Cattleya type orchids are hardy and sturdy growers.  Provide bright shade and allow potting medium to almost dry between through waterings. Provide enough light so that the foliage is a brighter than avocado green. If you are seeing growths stretching for light, give more light to ensure nice upright growing habit.  Fertilize during actively growing months. Best growing temperatures 55F to 90F.  Repot after flowering when the plant is growing off the side of you pot or growth is close to pot edge. Do not overpot Cattleya. Keep pot sizes appropriate for root mass. Ask me about our slow release fertilizer and our Rexius bark blends I make in the greenhouse for our excellently grown Cattleyas.
